Windows Server 2022 Standard is the versatile server operating system for physical and lightly virtualized environments and the right choice for most small and mid-sized companies. It serves as a file, print, application and domain controller server and includes proven roles such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, the IIS web server and Hyper-V. Server 2022 places a strong focus on security: Secured-core server combines hardware, firmware and driver protection, plus secure connections via TLS 1.3, AES-256 encryption for SMB and HTTPS hardening by default. Hybrid cloud features via Azure Arc and Windows Admin Center make central management of distributed sites easier. The Standard edition allows running up to two virtual machines plus the host. Licensing is per physical processor core; 16 cores are included. Please note that CALs may additionally be required for access.
